Jake Gyllenhaal hasn’t flexed his acting prowess since the April 2011 release of the film Source Code but today we learn that he is the featured star of a new music video. Jake plays a creepy serial killer in the music video Time to Dance by the French electroband The Shoes. I have to say, this role is quite a departure for our dear Jakey poo. He’s not the loveable kind of guy we are used to seeing. The vid runs for over 8 minutes so it’s kind of a mini-movie. Truth be told, it’s one of Jake‘s more compelling acting performances. Check out the video for Time to Dance below and see what you think.

What I find most unsettling about this video is not that fact that Jake plays a serial killer (6 seasons of Dexter has totally desensitized me) but it’s how disturbed Jake looks throughout this clip. There is no redemption, no explanation for his brutality … he’s basically a serial killer who goes about his normal day-to-day business in between murders. I’m impressed that The Shoes managed to get Jake to star in their video. I’m not sure if his inclusion will make the song a hit but it can’t hurt. Many may not have thought that the remake of Clash of the Titans warranted a sequel, but it's coming anyway!

Thankfully, however, it looks as though they're using it to try to rectify some of the problems with the first!

Ch-ch-check out the just-released new trailer for Wrath of the Titans, in which Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, and Ralph Fiennes reprise their respective roles as Perseus, Zeus, and Hades (above)!

We'll forgive Sam's hair for the time being because the action sequences and special effects definitely look really cool!

But here's hoping that that's not all this flick has to offer!

Madonna has released today another minute-long clip of a new song from her forthcoming album M.D.N.A. Today we get to preview her song Best Friend. The song has a drum & bass-y beat that I really like … yet, doesn’t seem to mesh well with the lyrics. In this song, Madonna is sining to an ex-lover who she laments was her best friend. Is she singing, once again, to ex-husband Guy Ritchie? Or maybe Jesus Luz, maybe? HMMM. Click below and listen for yourselves.

As I said, I love the music of of this song … sans lyrics, it sounds like a fantastic club song. The story she tells with the lyrics changes the tone of the song, I think. Obvs, we don’t know who she is singing about in this song (if she is singing about anyone at all) but it sounds like she is singing to one of her exes … but who? I dig the song overall, even if the lyrics don’t jibe with the music. What do y’all think?

Community Lives! Sort of!

NBC Chief Bob Greenblatt addressed questions about the beloved show during a winter press tour. Greenblatt stated that Community is not canceled and would return at a TBD sometime this spring.

Greenblatt said the following:

When I announced our midseason changes last fall and took Community off the schedule, I failed to explicitly say that it would be back. I want to expel any notion that it is just disappearing off the schedule

As for what time Community comes back, that is another issue as well.

The NBC head honcho said that 8pm is now a time slot Thursdays so there may be some shuffling on Thursday's programming. He also stated that he's "very curious" to see how something like 30 Rock would do at 8pm.

Good news for the folks at Greendale!

Happy New Year, Happy 2012!! Yes, things are running a little slow today in the wake of my amazing New Year’s Eve celebration with friends last night but … the show must go on! To get the new year started off right, I want to post a few photos from last night’s fun so that I can express my immense love and extreme gratitude for/to some amazing friends in my life. David and I were surrounded by total love last night with some of our very favorite people in the world and I want to start 2012 by sharing my love for them with all y’all.

To get the party started, David and I met up with Tamar and Rob for a delicious dinner in Los Feliz before we all made our way downtown to hang out with Ollie and Caleb at their DTLA loft. Our good friends Margaret and Chris joined the fun just before the new year and … BAM! It was 2012. We had a lot of fun together — booze was drank, food was ate and LOTS of photos were taken. As the last moments of 2011 ticked away and the first moments of 2012 were upon us, I was just so aware of how lucky I am to have such amazing people in my life. It can only be a Happy New Year when you are surrounded by so many good people. I know I am a very fortunate person because I could’ve been surrounded in the same amount of love no matter where I chose to be last night. David and I have the most amazing family and friends at home in Detroit, in NYC, in San Francisco, in Connecticut … we have loved ones in Australia, in Berlin … folks jetting around the world at any given time … it’s hard not to be thankful and humbled by the charmed lives we live.

To all of you reading this right now, I am sharing this love to all of YOU in the hopes that it will warm you and send you into 2012 with as much happiness and prosperity possible. The best of times are yet to come … trust me! Have a Happy 2012, much much love to ALL OF YOU!

As with most of his other symphonies, Bruckner rewrote the 8th, this time on the advice of Hermann Levi, the conductor that was to premiere the work. The first version of the symphony was completed in 1888 and sent to Levi and after reading through it and giving his opinion, the conductor told Bruckner that he could not "make the symphony his own". After giving it some thought, Bruckner agreed and completed his revisions of the work in 1890.

Lisa Marie Presley is in discussions to do a film about her dad, Elvis Presley, the HUGE rock ‘n’ roll icon. This year is the 35th anniversary of Elvis’ death, so the film would be aptly timed. She imagines something like ‘Walk the Line,‘ the Johnny Cash biopic starring Joaquin Phoenix. Read on for more of the details.

Lisa Marie, though extremely well known, and the heir to her father’s (massive) estate, doesn’t often talk publicly or give interviews. She was in the public eye this week though attending the opening of a new exhibition, “Elvis Through His Daughter’s Eyes,” at Graceland, her father’s Memphis home until his death in 1977. Lisa Marie lived there until she was 5, when her mother, Priscilla, divorced Elvia. She did however talk a bit about the potential for an upcoming biopic on her father’s life, and it sounded like it really could be something she would want to be involved in because she isn’t happy with how her father has always been portrayed.

“There’s not been anything done properly with him yet, you know, that has satisfied me in terms of capturing everything…It will happen, though. There can be a sort of cheesy take on him, which I don’t always love sometimes – you know, the later years and that whole thing with his white jumpsuit,” she said. “Now I’m probably over it. But I mean it was kind of running wild for a while. It was a little bit cringe-worthy.

The pic below is an old one I dug out of a baby Lisa Marie with Elvis and mom, Priscilla, from 1968.

I for one hope that Lisa Marie takes on this project and works with them to develop the Elvis biopic because it would give the film a much more personal edge. If her aim is to make it reminiscent of Walk the Line with Joaquin Phoenix, I think this is pretty exciting. I’m not sure if it means that she will star in the film or assist with the project from the back-end. Either way, I’m quite excited and hope that this project actually does happen. Who do you think would be cast in the lead role and play Elvis?
