Songwriting For Beginners How to Become a Songwriter and Succeed

The Mannheim Steamroller "other" albums are considered to be everything but their Christmas and Fresh Aire CDs. Mannheim Steamroller is a pioneer of the new age music genre, and has continuously been producing original and arranged music for the last several decades. I am a huge fan, and have picked out, in my opinion, the 8 best Mannheim Steamroller songs from their other albums besides the Christmas and Fresh Aire series.

Lady GaGa Tickets Hard to Find Concert Tickets for Lady GaGa Concerts Can Be Booked Easily Online

The heavy guitar riffs, the crazy drumming, and the deafening nearly illegible screaming makes up what most people today know as heavy metal. So the question is, why do people like it? Although heavy metal may just sound like a bunch of crazy loud noise, there's actually a large amount of talent incorporated with the music.

Last night David and I made our way to the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway to see the new musical Catch Me If You Can. Altho I had not seen the film, I was very anxious to see this show because one of my favorite Broadway actresses, Kerry Butler, stars in the show. I was only marginally familiar with the story so I hoped that seeing it cold would be entertaining. For the most part, I thought the show was OK … but, unfortch, it wasn’t nearly as exciting or upbeat as I was hoping.

The staging, set design, costumes and overall look of the show are really it’s strongest assets. You can tell that a lot of thought about the time period went into the staging and production of the show. The overriding problem for me was the story … the long, drawn out … not very exciting story. You’d think that a show with an exciting title like Catch Me If You Can would be upbeat, sexy and feature lots of action and showy dance numbers. Sadly, that is not the case. Most of the story in Act I was just rattled off in dialogue … there weren’t too many catchy numbers to sing along to. Of the songs in the show, I couldn’t even remember any of them after the show was over … well, except for one song. Kerry Butler belts out a showstopping number (Fly, Fly Away) at the very end of the show that is THE best song of the show. I was very surprised, tho, that Kerry isn’t featured AT ALL in the entire first Act … and she is billed as the female lead. Thankfully, Act II picked up considerably and manages to save the show from being a total snooze but as a whole … the show only ends up “OK”. That being said, I’m very glad I got to see the show and did enjoy myself, for the most part. I will say that Catch Me If You Can isn’t a show that I would ever feel the need to see again and it’s not a show that I would call a Must See. Lead actor Aaron Tveit is fine in his role as Frank Abagnale, Jr. but for me the real star of the show is Norbert Leo Butz who plays FBI agent Carl Hanratty. He was the best actor/character in the show. David and I had fun but we’ve seen better shows. If you’re a fan of the Catch Me If You Can story, this show might be for you … otherwise, you may be a bit disappointed by the show’s lack of real excitement.

Learning to Feel the Music Your Guitar Makes

I've written a lot of articles recently on the topic of rockabilly. Throughout the past couple of months I've forced myself to think about the music, to learn about the music, to feel the music, to hear the music, and to write about the music. Why? What would prompt me to spend so much of my time putting all these thoughts together about a genre of music that had its fleeting moment of glory for a few short years almost 60 years ago and was all but forgotten as quickly as it burst upon the music scene? Good question.

Arts and Entertainment:Music from EzineArticles.com

When you've just started beginner's piano lessons, it can be hard to get your fingers dancing across the keys in the way you imagined. It can be hard enough simply concentrating on playing the notes in the right order, or getting your digits in the right place to form a chord. Just as fresh guitarists can struggle to develop the strength to hold down the strings, new pianists must to be able to improve the flexibility in their fingers to be able to do justice to their favourite pieces of music. Here are a few tips to nudge you in the right direction.

Jazz Music: A Quick Lesson on Its Roots

The term "electronic keyboard" refers to any instrument that produces sound by the pressing or striking of keys, and uses electricity, in some way, to facilitate the creation of that sound. The use of an electronic keyboard to produce music follows an inevitable evolutionary line from the very first musical keyboard instruments, the pipe organ, clavichord, and harpsichord.

Panic At The Disco’s Brendon Urie’s Nasty Stage Injury (VIDEO)

Brendon Urie of Panic At The Disco is not some wimpy Emo dude. Nope. He really hurt himself during a live show, and decided to keep on rockin’, despite a massively swollen ankle. Don’t let the ridiculous looking vest in the video fool you, this could be filed under “true rock star moments.” After getting up close and personal with the crowd at a show in Jacksonville, Florida, Brendon stepped back on stage with a limp. He sort of hobbles for a second trying to pull his shoe off…then BOOM: the reveal. The crowd lets loose a sort of sympathetic, but still grossed out “ooooooooohhhhh,” as he shows off a pretty sick looking dumpling of an ankle injury. Let’s be honest, most people would be on the ground screaming, but this guy just sort of takes it like a man. He doesn’t even walk off stage to be check out. He just makes a couple of jokes about his grandmother’s goiter and straps on a guitar. The crowd seems to really appreciate his dedication and gets pretty fired up before the next song. Eventually the show ended and Brendon made it to the hospital, but not before sending this photo [...]

Last night I met up with my friend Jen and her friends Stacey and Mark at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA to see Cinderella live in concert. Now, back in the day — 25 years ago, when Cinderella first came onto the scene — I was too young to be allowed to see the band in concert. While I was never a huge fan of the band, I did like some of their music and enjoyed a bit that hair/metal music scene. Last night, on the band’s 25th anniversary tour, I finally got to see the band in action.

The show as no fluff, no frills … just straight rock and roll the entire time. The band played all of their hits and they sounded pretty damn amazing, too. If you closed your eyes, and I’m not even kidding, you would think you were rockin’ out to a Cinderella concert back in 1986. Of course, when you opened your eyes you’d see that all of those headbangers from back in the day have grown up to become, well, much older headbangers ;) The show as ridiculously fun and we had a blast. After the show, we made our way to The Standard for some late night eats and then called it a night. So fun.

Tonight, David and I are seeing X-Men: First Class and then I’m going out to Key Club to see kidneythieves live in concert. It’s the weekend (again), y’all! Enjoy!!
